Ingredients

At Windella Farm, it’s just as much about what we don’t use as it is about what we do use. No artificial colours, fragrance, detergents, parabens, petro-chemicals or SLS to name a few.
What we do use are carefully researched natural ingredients that are toxin-free, sustainable and renewable.

With complete transparency, our ingredients are listed in full on every product.
Here are some of our favourites and what they bring to the table.

Goats Milk

Goats milk has a range of benefits when used in skin care products which make it the perfect ingredient for treating sensitive & problem skin. Goats milk has a PH level that is very close to that of our own skin which means it a gentle & nourishing addition to our soaps. It contains lactic acid which helps to rejuvenate the skin & remove dead skin cells. Goats milk is also packed full of essential vitamins & nutrients which aid in repairing damaged skin tissue & provide anti-aging benefits. Many of our customers who suffer from skin conditions like dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis & dryness have experienced real improvements & benefits when using our goats milk soaps. Our goats milk range is made using raw goats milk from our happy herd of Saanen dairy goats.

Mud, clays & powders

Dead Sea mud is one of our favourite luxury ingreadients. Made with the sea salts and mud from the Dead Sea, it is full of beneficial minerals which aid in exfoliation, cell regeneration, anti-aging and stress relief. Dead Sea mud is also known to improve skin elasticity, minimize pores, wrinkles & lines & assist in managing skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema & acne.
Natural cosmetic clays, spa minerals & powders are commonly used in our soaps and masks to enhance skin loving benefits of our products. They are a great way to cleanse, detoxify & revitalise the skin, as well as increasing circulation & oxygen flow. French green clay is a favourite for treating oily skin as it cleanses, exfoliates & softens the skin, while French pink clay is a beautifully mild & gentle clay that works wonderfully on extra sensitive & mature skin. Seaweed powder can help to remove impurities, hydrate & nourish dry skin & improve skin tone. Australian red clay gives a rich red-earth hue to our soaps while replenishing & regenerating the skin. In any of our ‘coloured’ soaps you can rest assured that only natural colourants have been used. Ingredients such as clays, mud, honey, tea, spices & cocoa powder are behind the unique appearance of our products.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are natural scents extracted from the leaves, bark, roots, flowers, and fruits of plants. Fragrance oils are synthetic blends of the aromatic compounds found in essential oils and elsewhere. Because we believe that ‘natural is best’, we only use essential oils for scenting our products. Not only do essential oils provide a beautifully gentle & natural scent to our range, they contain other many other beneficial properties that further enhance our products. For example, tea tree has natural antiseptic properties, lavender can help relieve nervous tension & insomnia, peppermint can assist with headaches & mental fatigue and lemongrass can help oily skin as a skin toner. We carefully formulate our scent blends to take advantage of the many benefits that essential oils can offer.

Honey

Honey contains natural antioxidant properties which help to promote new tissue growth & destroy free radicals in the body. It is also an antimicrobial agent which can inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, making it an excellent addition to skin care products when treating acne. The hygroscopic nature of honey also means that it draws moisture to the skin, assisting in keeping it hydrated & preventing dryness. Some of our luxury soaps that feature honey are Milk & Honey, Honey Oat Cake and Mud & Honey. We use raw, organic honey farmed locally in Cohuna.

Butters and oils

We select only the highest quality oils & butters to use in our skincare products, with each individually chosen for the benefits that it brings to the product. Each of our products contain luxury oils & butters that bring extra skin-nourishing qualities to the product as well as enhancing the creaminess, lather & hardness of our soaps. Some of our favourite luxury oils to use in our skincare & soap formulations are apricot kernal, pomegranate seed, hemp seed, avocado, rosehip and jojoba oil. We love to incorporate butters such as cocoa, shea and mango seed butter. Locally grown Australian olive oil is the primary ingredient used in most of our handmade soaps, along with coconut oil, sustainably sourced palm oil & a range of other premium oils. Botanicals, nuts, seeds & grains

A variety of botanicals are used in our products to enhance them with the natural goodness that these plants contain. Calendula has antibacterial & anti-inflammatory properties which promote healing & regeneration of skin damaged from wounds, eczema, dermatitis etc. We love to use calendula in an olive oil infusion to bring additional skin soothing & calming properties to the product. Chamomile is another favourite botanical to use as it contains anti-inflammatory properties to soothe skin conditions & is known to assist with relaxation, anxiety & insomnia. When it comes to exfoliants in our soaps, we don’t use plastic micro-beads which harm the environment & pollute our waterways. We love to use natural ingredients like colloidal oatmeal, coffee grounds, poppy seeds & crushed walnuts. They help to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, promote skin regeneration & improve the texture & appearance of your skin, each with varying degrees of ‘scrubbiness’.
